INTERNATIONAL MEDIA ETHICS DAY
A Dialogue in Media Ethics
The Center for International Media Ethics is proud to announce the first International Media Ethics Day to be held on Friday, Sept. 23, 2011.
The aim of the Media Ethics Day is to mobilize the journalism community and provide journalists around the world with an opportunity to discuss media ethics issues, examine case studies, and participate in role-plays and debates related to the various ethical dilemmas they might expect to face on the job.
Besides several on-site events around the world, additional activities will be available online for journalists whose limited resources prevent them from participating in person.

Pakistan organised by Mishal Pvt. Pakistan and Puruesh Chaudhary, CIME Ambassador to Pakistan. The workshop will take place in the Lahore Press Club with case studies, role pays and media ethics debates engaging both practising journalists and journalism students from the Punjab University.
Zimbabwe organised by MISA Zimbabwe and the Voluntary Media Council of Zimbabwe. The venue is the Media Centre in Harare. Besides group exercises on ethical case studies and role plays, MISA and VMCZ prepared a special discussion programme on the state of media in Zimbabwe with the intention to draw up a recommendation on the way forward.
Nigeria organised by Gbenga Adeniji , CIME Ambassador to Nigeria. The interactive workshop will address the topic „Ethics: the pivot for sound journalism practice" through discussion and exercises with young local journalists.
Ghana organised by the Ghana Media Advocacy Programme in partnership with Ethics Africa, Ghana Journalist Association, Partnership For The Future and UNICEF to conduct discussion on the ethical dilemmas related to reporting on children using the UNICEF principle for ethical reporting on children and the IFJ Guidelines as a framework. Venue: Ghana International Press Center. Speakers were also invited from the Ghana Journalists Association, the Ministry of Information and the University of Ghana.
Ethiopia organised by the Ethiopian Journalists Anti-Corruption Network and Transparency Ethiopia through journalists round tables and possible guest speakers from Addis Ababa University. Venue: Queen Sheba Hotel at Addis Ababa.
Albania organised by the Department of Journalism of the Albanian University in Tirana. Other relevant local media organisations will participate.
Russia organised by YoJo.ru Young Journalists in Moscow's Central House of Journalists. The Russian Union of Journalists will also be present at the event.
Cambodia organised by the Cambodian Journalists' Council for Ethics at the Cambodiana Hotel in Phnom Penh along with the Cambodia Communication Institute. Among the speakers the Minister of Information. They aim to sign a Join Statement by the end of the conference.
Peru organised by Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas. Case studies, role plays and meaningful discussions are planned for the mostly journalism student audience.
Hungary organised by the National Media and Infocommunications Authority (Nemzeti Média- és Hírközlési Hatóság) Besides workshop exercises to actively engage the participants, the conference participants will talk about the ethical implications of the recent phone hacking scandal.
South Sudan organised by Peter Bongiri CIME Ambassador at the Africak park in Juba.
