Distribution of wealth can minimise poverty

Islamabad: [March 04]

The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Sunday said economic revival can become a reality if serious steps are taken to ensure protection of the human rights of the masses.

Majority continue to suffer from crisis of economic opportunities that is grave threat, it said.

Unplanned response to the crisis, law and order, food and fuel prices are far from satisfactory, said Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President PEW.

Talking to Abdullah Malik, Advisor to Governor Punjab on Legal and Human Rights, he said that concrete actions based on recommendations of broad-based national debate has become imperative.

He said that current difficulties offer alternative approaches and solutions that need to be explored.

Dr. Murtaza Mughal said that with the influence of the champions of human rights and the disparities are increasing side-by-side, which proves that something is wrong.

Abdullah Malik said law and order, terrorism, market regulation, and protection of public interests have become the subject of intense debate in Pakistan.

He said that redistribution of wealth through state intervention can minimise impoverishment.

State should use all resources to fulfil economic, social and cultural rights of the masses, he added.

Human rights obligations have yet to receive adequate attention in policies, said Abdullah Malik.

Art and Culture Exhibition held at local school

Faith and education must remain together

Nations with high moral values are undefeatable

March 04 Islamabad:

An Art and Culture Exhibition aimed at promoting reading, creativity, critical thinking and understanding different cultures, was organised in the Dar-e-Arqam School, Chak Shahzad.

Another major aim was to trigger interest of children in books, reading and writing as studies show that a love for reading leads to children's success in schools.

The stalls displaying books, artwork and food items received warm reception from the festival participants.

Children representing all provinces in their cultural dresses presented National Anthem. MNA Tariq Fazal Chaudhry addressed the festival session.

He expressed his confidence that such events will bring about a change in society and called the interaction at the festival a beginning of new Pakistan.

He lauded speeches in Urdu and English, artwork and performances and efforts by the school's administration to trigger children's imaginations.

Mr. Chaudhry said the young generation has a tremendous potential and drive to excel in all fields of activity.

Leading educationists advised the students to maintain their moral values and cultural ethos. He underlined the plays that should reflect intellect, progressive vision and the cultural identity.

Earlier, the Director Dar-e-Arqam M. Imran Khan in his address underlined the dynamic spirit behind the art and cultural festival.

He said the progressive spirit was the hallmark of the event and highlighted the significance of extra-curricular activities in making a successful personality.

Faith and education should remain hand in hand; we need a lot of educational and ethical power besides all kinds of material sources said Imran. The nations equipped with high moral values are undefeatable, he added.   The audience highly appreciated the demonstrations by the students.

'Seena Guzzet' (forwarded as received)

Who rules Pakistan?
Malik Riaz of Bahria Foundation....

Malik Riaz was the conduit for bringing the PML Q wing led by Chaudhry Shujaat/ Chaudhry Pervez Illahi into AZ fold.

Prez Zardai was very pleased/ jubiliant with NICL scandal!
He said that NICL delivered three people/groups to him who covered to his feet.....
1. Yusuf Raza Gilani, as his son/ sons were involved
2.Benazir's nominee for PM.... Makhdoom Amin Fahim
3. Chaudhry Shujaat Husain and Chaudhry Pervez Illahi

How the corruption of some, benefits the other corrupt elements.....
The threat by MQM was thwarted by NICL as Chaudhries came into the fold thereby outsmarting the terrorists, MQM.....

Who the hell is Taji Khokhar?
Brother of Nawaz Khokhar......formerly Deputy speaker of National Assembly.
He works on for acquisition/ land grabbing in Islamabad/ Rawalpindi area on behalf of Malik Riaz, the Don....
Taji ( Imtiaz Khokhar) lives on the main road connecting Rawalpindi to Islamabad with a Zoo where interalia there are two live Lions. Daily expenditure over a lakh rupees.....
He is responsible for killing of at least 100 people in pursuit of land grabbing.
At one point after killing more than four persons at a land site, he came home and shot his long time guard and registered FIR against those killed by him and using as a cause for retaliatory firing. Of course he compensated the family adequately.

Who is Faisal Butt?
He owned/ owns a guest house in Islamabad where Mr AZ used to visit in the evenings while in so called detention.
Mr Az is known for never forgetting anyone who even offered him a glass of water, in his difficult time(unlike Mian Bros). Mr AZ asked his choice for Chairman CDA. Butt suggeted Kamran Lashari.... Mr AZ agreed and appointed him. He told Lashari to follow orders from Mr Faisal Butt. This continues even after Lashari left CDA.

Also, former Secretary Defence's brother amassed Millions of Dollars with full patronage of his powerful brother.....

Malik Riaz also has Shahbaz Sharif in his pocket and has been successful in causing a breach in PML N. Chaudhry Nisar was the victim. All PML N MNA's and MPAs from PML N from the area around Pindi/ Islamabad are in the pocket of Malik Riaz.

PRESS RELEASE

UNICEF and broadcasters call for 'Every Child in School' on International Children's Day of Broadcasting 2012

ISLAMABAD, 3 March 2012 – On this year's International Children's Day of Broadcasting on 4 March, UNICEF and broadcasters around Pakistan call for every child in Pakistan of school-going age to be enrolled in school. An appeal is made to governments, private sector, national institutions, media,  education professionals, communities, parents and other stakeholders to renew their commitment to ensuring that children have access to quality education.

This year's theme, 'Every Child in School', emphasises the need for all children, both girls and boys, to access schooling and receive quality education up to secondary school level. Through their support, broadcasters will produce special TV and radio programmes raising awareness among parents and caregivers on the importance of enrolling out-of-school children, especially girls.

"Ensuring access to free and quality education for all children, especially the most vulnerable and disadvantaged, is both a right in principle and a right in practice. Investing in education is an investment in the future of Pakistan – an investment that both underpins the Government's Framework for Economic Growth and  is a catalyst for human growth and development," said Dan Rohrmann, UNICEF Representative in Pakistan.

Nearly 25 million children in Pakistan are denied their right to an education – the second largest number of out-of-school children in any country. Of these, 7 million children are of primary school-age and 60 per cent are girls.

"It is essential to make all efforts to secure sufficient education budgets and invest in a dynamic and vibrant education sector that fully exploits the opportunities of new technologies and, above all, the amazing potential of children in Pakistan," said Mr. Rohrmann.

The International Children's Day of Broadcasting is an international event where, on the first Sunday of March, thousands of broadcasters in more than a hundred countries help children to be directly involved in radio and television programming, production and presentation. As a result, children share experiences with their peers, and give voice to their hopes and dreams.

UNICEF takes this opportunity to thank the media, particularly all leading broadcasters in Pakistan, who are supporting this year's International Children's Day of Broadcasting.

About UNICEF
UNICEF is on the ground in over 150 countries and territories to help children survive and thrive, from early childhood through adolescence. In Pakistan, it works with the federal and provincial, NGOs and other partners to support child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation, and AIDS. It has provided vital relief and reconstruction support to help individuals rebuild their lives after emergencies, such as the 2010 monsoon floods and the October 2005 earthquake. UNICEF is funded entirely by the voluntary contributions of individuals, businesses, foundations and governments.
