RIGHT TO SELF-DETERMINATION FOR SIKHS OF PUNJAB, KHALISTAN: HABIB YOUSAFZAI, KASHMIR DIASPORA ALLIANCE

Motivated by the lust of power and greed of wealth, the Brahmins-Hindus after receiving power on a platter from Britain the first early hour of August 15, 1947, begun conspiring to make the non Brahmins-Hindu minorities subservient. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, V B Patel, and Tervadi the trio abandoned all promises avowed in regards to human rights of the Sikhs according to the Indian constitution, and if need be giving a choice for establishment of their own independent sovereign State of Khalistan.

People migrating from Pakistan to India and vice versa were granted the right to obtain lost property left behind. Based upon the same standard, the Sikhs being a separate nation had a right to form their government in Punjab, Khalistan as an inheritance, in lieu of the fifty year sovereign and independent Sikh rule in Punjab by Maharaja Ranjit Singh. However, the British government had failed to equitably divide the Indian subcontinent. Moreover, the Sikh people were unable to decide as they were scattered all over the Indian subcontinent and therefore did not have clear majority in any state.

In compliance to the charter of human rights and freedoms under the United Nations resolution, wherein the rights of each nation are protected, the Sikhs being an oppressed nation in the map of India as reported by numerous human right groups, more than 260,000 have been killed since 1984. Since the time of the attack on June 1984 on Darbar Sahib, a Mecca of Sikhs (also known as Golden Temple), the Sikhs were barred from practicing their own religion. Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindrawala (Shaheed) was martyred in the onslaught of the attack. Up until this day the Sikhs are being forced to recognize themselves as Hindus.

As a matter of fact, the composition of the population of the Sikhs, Brahmins -Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Dalits, etc., please see the October-November, 2011, issue of Dalit Voice. Sir VT Rajshekar has shed information on the population makeup of the Brahmins-Hindus, the Sikhs, Muslims, Christians and Dalits, etc. The information is highly interesting. The Brahmins (2.5%) +Hindus (7.5%), Sikhs 2.5%, Christians 3%, Muslims (13%), and Dalits are nearly 70% and Janis 2%. The Brahmins-Hindus that consist of about 10.5% population of a total of over 1.2 billion have a right to form their Brahministan near the Hindi belt, e.g., Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and U P.

Last but not the least; the Sikhs at present are in majority in the Punjab province despite all the efforts conducted by the Indian government to disrupt the demographic composition. Following the rights to self-determinations granted to the people of East Timor and South Sudan, the Sikhs of Punjab Khalistan are also very much in line with the policies of the United Nations to allow them to have a plebiscite for their freedom. When the Sikhs human rights are being threatened, and violated they have every right to put forth their case to the United Nations for the purpose of self- determination and subsequently the creation of a sovereign Punjab Khalistan. The Sikhs ought to have their own sovereign and independent country just as Muslims have Pakistan and Hindus have India so that they can live there without any coercion by other nations.
