7th Inter Schools Mathematics Olympiads held  

 

Islamabad: Jan 29

7th Inter Schools Mathematics Olympiad 2012 was organized on Sunday at PakTurk International School Campus. Over 3000 students from 470 schools of Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Rawalpindi and the students of rural and urban areas of Islamabad participated in the mega educational competition.

 In order to provoke interest among the students, PakTurk International Schools and Colleges have been arranging Inter Schools Mathematics Olympiads (ISMO) for the last six years. Educationists have the point of view that there are not enough chances for our student to exhibit their talent to the world. There is an immense need of such programs for our brilliant youth. This unique competition provides a great chance for the students of class 5, 6, 7 and class 8 to show their incredible potential and win handsome prizes. This competition was open for the students of Government Schools as well as those of private schools and for both genders.

This year PakTurk International Schools and Colleges organized this maga event in collaboration with Federal Directorate of Education & Ministry of Education Government of Punjab.

Students, teachers, heads of educational institutes, educationists and parents of students also visited the occasion. The host students of PakTurk School also organized a fun fair where Turkish and local food stalls attracted the visitors to make the event more eye-catching. Increasing number of participating students, every year, shows the credibility and transparency of the event. The guests also appreciated the excellent arrangements for the students and the visitors.

Results of the competition will be announced on 11th February 2011 through website and prize distribution ceremony will be held on 18th February 2012.  Attractive prizes have been announced for the top twenty position holders in each category. The cash prizes for the first three positions are Rs. 30,000, 20,000 and 10,000 respectively for each of the 5, 6, 7 and 8 class categories. Moreover there are 7 prizes of Rs. 2000 and 10 prizes of Rs. 1000 for each category.

Dr. Murtaza Mughal has been appointed as President of Nazaria-e-Pakistan Centre (NPC). The decision to this effect was taken in a meeting chaired by leader of the Pakistan Freedom Movement Naseem Enwar Beg who is also founder Chairman of NPC.

 

Co-Chairman NPC Mian Muhammad Jaweed, Secretary General Baig Raj and others were also present on the occasion.  After oath taking ceremony, Naseem Enwar Beg, who has also served as and former executive UNESCO, said that Nazaria-e-Pakistan is in fact another name for our Islamic spirit and character.

 

He said that he believes that despite all weaknesses Pakistan is destined to become a great nation, an example among Ummah. Beg said that we are delighted to find that Dr. Murtaza Mughal has made its promotion an aim of his life.

 

He said that selfless social and religious services of Dr. Murtaza Mughal have earned him a repute making him a preferred choice for the job. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Murtaza Mughal said that country is passing through worst ideological crisis that needs to be dealt urgently. 

 

He said that Quaid-e-Azam, a leader with clear and unambiguous vision, demanded a separate homeland based on religion but now some elements are busy in wiping out these values from minds with youth their primary target.

 

He called upon the youth to stick to the ideology of Pakistan and Islam to foil unholy designs of internal and external enemies who are conspiring to wipe off Pakistan from the face of earth.

 

Dr. Murtaza Mughal said that only Islam offers peace, prosperity and cure for all the ills humanity is suffering. He said that NPC will soon launch a campaign aimed at educating people about the aims and objectives of Pakistan movement. International tax consultant and expert on studying international money laundering operations and drug economy, Dr Ikramul Haq, on Sunday said allowing injection of black money in the stock markets will not only facilitate money laundering but also have negative impact for much-needed revenue generation initiatives.

 

Approval of the proposal on revamping the Capital Gains Tax (CGT) is a counter move to FBR's efforts to expand tax net, he said.

 

Extending immunity to tax cheats is violation of provisions of Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2010 as well as breach of international treaties signed by Pakistan, "it certainly amounts to sponsoring financial crimes," said Dr Ikramul Haq.

 

Talking to Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President of the Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW), he said that the move is meant to facilitate ruthless brokers' mafia who fleece masses, hurt small investors, and manage funds of plunderers of national wealth.

 

Dr Ikramul Haq observed that giving legal cover to the money amassed by the corrupt, tax evaders, criminals, and drug traffickers cannot be justified under any circumstances.

 

 At the occasion, Huzaima Bukhari, tax expert and Adjunct Professor at LUMS, said that state patronage to whitening dirty money is bound to transform Pakistan into one of the hubs of money laundering in the world. Corruption is destroying moral fabric of the society, she added.

 

International banking consultant Mohsin Rafique said that giving amnesty to the big fish in stock markets would further tarnish faith of masses in the system.

 

Role of a NRO banker is the Reshma Rental Power Plant case remained unnoticed that if investigated can result in startling revelations, said Rafique.

 

Dr. Murtaza Mughal said that small brokerage houses and individual brokers are losing interest in the business; total number of registered brokerage houses stood at 276 by the end of financial year 2011 as compared to 299 in 2010.

 

The KSE accounts for 52 per cent of the total brokers as compared to 29 per cent at the LSE and 19 per cent at the ISE, 93 per cent are brokerage houses while 7 per cent are individual brokers, he said.

 

He said that after every market crash, a broker emerged as owner of a bank. A top official who tried to safeguard interests of masses was shown the door during Eid holidays that left regulator impotent.

 

Dr. Mughal said that brokers' mafia, known for price manipulation, blank sales, wash trades, insider trading, inter-exchange trades, provision of false information, non-compliance with Brokers and Agent Registration Rules, 2001, violation of general regulations and regularly trespassing Code of Conduct will now enjoy renewed strength.

….. البتہ یہ''تائید اور ثابت قدمی کا پیغام'' صلیبیوں اور ان کے معاونین کی جیلوں میں قید مظلوم خواتین اور القاعدہ و طالبان کے قید سپاہیوں کے نام بھی ایک پیغام ہے۔ پس میں ان سے کہتا ہوں کہ بلاشبہ ہم نے تمہیں کبھی نہیں بھلایا اور نہ ہم اللہ کے حکم سے تمہیں کبھی بھلا سکتے ہیں۔ تمہیں رہائی دلوانے کے لیے اللہ سبحانہ وتعالی نے ہمیں توفیق دی کہ ہم نے امریکی یہودی وارن ونسٹائن کوگرفتار کیا ہے جو امریکی حکومت کا سابق اہلکار اور اب پاکستان کے لیے اس کا امریکی امداد کے پروگرام کا ٹھیکیدار ہے ، جو پاکستان اور افغانستان میں جہاد کیخلاف لڑائی لڑنے کے لیے کوشاں تھا۔ یہ ایسا ہی ہے جیسے امریکی ہر اس شخص کو گرفتار کرتے ہیں جس کے بارے میں ذرا سا بھی شک وشبہ ہو کہ اس کا تعلق القاعدہ وطالبان سے ہے خواہ وہ تعلق کتنی ہی دورکاکیوں نہ ہو۔ تو ہم نے ستر کی دہائی سے پاکستان کے لیے امریکی امداد میں سرگرم آدمی کو گرفتار کرلیا ہے۔   

اس کی رہائی کے لیے ہمارے مطالبات یہ ہیں

مصر اور غزہ کے درمیان افراد اور سامان کی منتقلی کو روکنے کے لیے قائم کردہ محاصرے کو مکمل طور پر ختم کیا جائے۔

امریکہ اور اس کے اتحادیوں کی طرف سے پاکستان،افغانستان،یمن،صوم الیہ اور غزہ میں ہونے والی ہر قسم کی بمباری کو روکا جائے۔

 القاعدہ وطالبان سے تعلق رکھنے کے الزام میں گرفتار کیے گئے تمام افراد کو رہا کیا جائے۔یہاں تک کہ ان افراد کو بھی رہا کیا جائے جنہیں کسی دوسرے ملک کے حوالے کردیا گیا ہے جیسے ابو مصعب سوری، اور یہاں تک کہ ان افراد کو بھی رہا کیا جائےجو غیر مسلم ہیں۔ ان پر لگائے گئے تمام الزامات کو ختم کیا جائے ، ان کا کسی بھی قسم کا قانونی پیچھا کرنے سے گریز کیا جائے اور انہیں اس جگہ تک پہنچادیا جائے جہاں وہ باعزت طریقے سے رہنا چاہتے ہیں۔

گوانٹانامو اور امریکی خفیہ جیلوں میں موجود تمام قیدیوں کو رہا کیا جائے اور ان جیلوں اور قید خانوں کو بند کردیا جائے۔

 سید نصیر، رمزی یوسف اور ان دونوں کے ساتھ جو دیگرافراد ہیں، انہیں رہا کیا جائے،ان پر لگائے جانے والے تمام الزامات کو ختم کیا جائے، ان کا کسی بھی قسم کا قانونی پیچھا کرنے سے گریز کیا جائے اور انہیں اس جگہ تک پہنچادیا جائے جسے وہ خود اپنے لیے معزز ومکرم طریقے سے اختیار کریں گے۔

  شیخ عمر عبد الرحمن کو رہا کیا جائے، ان پر لگائے گئے تمام الزامات کو ختم کیا جائے، ان کا کسی بھی قسم کا قانونی پیچھا کرنے سے گریز کیا جائے اور انہیں باعزت ومکرم طریقے سے واپس ان کے ملک بھجوایا جائے۔

 شیخ اسامہ بن لادن کے گھر والوں کو رہا کیا جائے، ان پر کسی بھی قسم کے لگائے جانے والے الزامات کو واپس لیا جائے، انہیں ان کے آبائی ملکوں تک با عزت ومکرم طریقے سے پہنچایا جائے اور ان سے کسی بھی قسم کی تحقیقات کرنےاور ان کا پیچھا کرنے سے گریز کیا جائے۔

  القاعدہ وطالبان سے تعلق رکھنے کے الزام میں گرفتار ہونے والی تمام خواتین کو رہا کیا جائے۔ جیسے عافیہ صدیقی، ابوحمزہ مہاجر ــ رحمہ اللہ ــ کی بیوہ حسناء اور دیگر تمام خواتین قیدیوں کورہا کیا جائے، ان پر لگائے گئے تمام الزامات کو واپس لیا جائے، ان کا کسی بھی قسم کا قانونی پیچھا کرنے سے گریز کیا جائے، انہیں اس جگہ تک پہنچادیا جائے جہاں وہ باعزت ومکرم طریقے سے جانا چاہتی ہیں۔

میں اپنی اس گفتگو کو ختم کرنے سے پہلے اس امریکی قیدی کے گھر والوں کو ایک پیغام دینا چاہتا ہوں۔ پس میں ان سے کہتا ہوں کہ : بیشک تمہاری حکومت ہمارے قیدیوں پر تشدد کرتی ہے، لیکن ہم نے تمہارے قیدی پر تشدد نہیں کیا ہے۔ تمہاری حکومت نے جنیوا معاہدے پر دستخط کئے اور پھر اسے کچرے کی ٹوکری میں پھینک دیا۔ جبکہ ہم نے جنیوا معاہدے پر دستخط نہیں کئے لیکن اس کے باوجود تمہاری قیدی کے ساتھ عزت واکرام کا سلوک کررہے ہیں۔ یہ ایک بات ہوئی ۔

دوسری بات یہ ہے کہ میں تمہیں اوباما کے جھوٹ اور دھوکے بازی سے خبردار کرتا ہوں ۔ وہ چاہتا ہے کہ اس آدمی کو قتل کردیا جائے تاکہ وہ اس کی مشکلات کا بوجھ اٹھانے سے آرام پاسکے۔ اوباما جھوٹا آدمی ہے۔ وہ جھوٹ بولتا تھا، جھوٹ بول رہا ہے اور جھوٹ بولے گا۔ وہ تم سے کہے گا کہ میں نے تمہارے قریبی کو چھڑانے کی کوشش کی تھی لیکن القاعدہ نے سختی اختیار کی۔ پس تم اس کی بات کو سچ مت سمجھنا۔ وہ تم سے یہ بھی کہہ سکتا ہے کہ میں نے ان سے رابطہ کرنے کی کوشش کی تھی مگر انہوں نے جواب نہیں دیا۔ پس تم اس کو سچا مت سمجھنا۔ وہ تم سے یہ بھی کہہ سکتا ہے کہ میں تمہارے قریبی کو چھڑانے کے لیے اپنی پوری توانائی صرف کررہا ہوں۔ پس تم اسے سچ مت سمجھنا ۔

تیسری بات یہ ہے کہ میں تمہیں اس بات کی تاکید کرتا ہوں کہ تمہاری مشکل وپریشانی ہمارے ساتھ نہیں بلکہ اوباما کے ساتھ ہے۔ ہم تو اپنے ان عادلانہ مطالبات کو مانگ رہے ہیں جن کی بنیاد ہمارے قیدیوں کی رہائی اور تمہاری حکومت کی طرف سے ہمارےخلاف جاری جارحیت کو بند کرنے پر ہے۔ پس تمہیں چاہئے کہ اگر تم اپنے قریبی کو واپس لانا چاہتے ہو تو تم اوباما پر دباؤ ڈالنے کے سلسلے کو جاری رکھو۔ اوباما کے پاس تمہارےقیدی کو رہا کرانے کی صلاحیت، طاقت اور سلطنت موجود ہے۔ اس کے ایک معمولی سے دستخط سے تمہاری مشکل سیکنڈوں میں حل ہوسکتی ہے۔ اوباما کے پاس تمہارے قیدی کو چھڑانے کا اختیار بھی ہے، تمہارے قیدی کو کئی سال تک قید میں رکھنے کا بھی اختیار ہے اور تمہارے قیدی کو ـــ اگراس نے کسی حماقت کا ارتکاب کیا تو ـــ ہلاک کرنے کا بھی اختیار ہے۔ پس تم اس پر اپنا دباؤ جاری رکھو، اس کا پیچھا کرنا مت چھوڑو اور اس کی جھوٹی باتوں کو سچ مت سمجھو۔

'' مصر میں بسنے والے ہمارے بھائیوں کے لئے امید اور خوشی'' کا یہ پیغام قید میں موجود ہمارے بھائیوں کے لیے بھی امید اور خوشی کا پیغام ہے۔

 EU and UNDP supported Command, Control and Communication Centre in PDMA inaugurated.
Centre to provide critical communications in the event of a disaster

Lahore, 28th January 2012 – In the presence of the Chief Minister Punjab, H.E. Shahbaz Sharif, Ambassador, Head of Delegation, European Union H.E Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, Dr. Zafar Iqbal Qadir, Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and Mr. Toshihiro Tanaka, Country Director, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Command, Control and Communication Centre at the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab was inaugurated today. 

This is part of a broader effort towards the institutional development and capacity building for Disaster Risk Management of various PDMAs, which is spear headed by the NDMA Chairman. The Centre has been established under the One UN Disaster Risk Management Programme which is an umbrella programme to support the national efforts to reduce vulnerabilities, prevent and mitigate the disaster risks and conduct effective response and recovery operations once a disaster strikes at all levels including the federal, provincial, district and community levels. 

The Centre will provide the much needed coordination and centralized command mechanism for PDMA through which key mobile units including the police control room, 1122 control room, Railway Headquarters and District Commissioner’s office in Lahore will be connected through a VHF network. This facility will also extend to all districts in Punjab through mobile squads and will facilitate a coordinated response in the event of a disaster.

The Control Room is equipped to deal with multiple disasters that may occur throughout the year. It has representatives from PDMA, Metrological& Irrigation Departments, Federal & Provincial Flood Commissions, Pakistan Commissioner for Indus Waters and HQs 4 Corps Engineers, Army among others to ensure that key stakeholders are on board and communications channels are fully functional when a disaster strikes.

“The EU is proud to contribute to a project that aims at saving lives in case of natural disaster. Lessons learnt from 2010 and 2011 devastating flood give all more sense to this collective demarche. This Command and Control Center showcases a striking combination of modern technologies and high professional skills that will allow us better anticipate future challenges.” said Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, Ambassador, Head of Delegation, EU.

Further reiterating the importance of this initiative, Mr. Khalid Sherdil DG PDMA, Punjab said, ‘The Centre is part of a comprehensive programme for formulating disaster risk management policies and plans in the province and will support PDMA as the implementing, coordinating and monitoring body for disaster management in Punjab’ 

Mr. Toshihiro Tanaka, UNDP Country Director, appreciated the support of the international community, “I am pleased to witness the results of our joint efforts in establishing a control and communication mechanism effectively connecting the people with disaster management institutions in Punjab. The European Union has been an important partner for UNDP over the years and supports an absolutely vital element of responding to disasters”, he said.

Dear Sir/Madam,
You may be well aware of the educational services of our institution PAKTURK International Schools and Colleges. We have been striving hard to provide quality education to Pakistani youth since 1995. Today we have 18 branches in 7 major cities of the country. We believe in Activity Based Learning and plan various academic programs for our students. One of such activity is Inter Schools Mathematics Olympiads (ISMO). We have been arranging this competition for last six years. We sense that there are not enough chances for our students to show their talent to the world.
OBJECTIVE
The main objective behind conducting this competition is to prepare Pakistani students to not only participate in International Mathematics Olympiad but also get distinction irrespective of their school. PAKTURK students have been participating in various International Olympiads in different categories and securing positions. These distinguished Pakistani students are a source of pride and fame in academic fields for Pakistan and in the world.
PROGRAMME (All papers in Pakistan but one follow American English)
This unique competition provides a great chance for students of class 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th to prove their incredible potential and get handsome prizes. The prize money is 30,000, 20,000 and 10,000 respectively for first three positions for all the four classes. There will be prize money 2000 from position 4 to 10 and 1000 for positions 11 to 20. This competition is open for the students of Government Schools as well as private schools and includes both boys and girls. ISMO is a Multiple Choice Questions based test. There will be 50 questions and time allocated for this test will be 90 minutes. This test will be conducted on Sunday, 29th January 2012 in three PAKTURK Campuses of Islamabad. The prize distribution ceremony will be conducted at 2:30 pm on 18th February 2012 in PAKTURK Int'l Schools & Colleges, 3, Park Road Chak Shahzad Islamabad. Federal Directorate of Education and Ministry of Education Govt. of Punjab have also endorsed this program.
We invite you for the coverage this program. We intend to reach as many parents/teachers/students as possible so to ensure maximum participation in this Olympiad. In this way the prize money will reach the most terrific and deserving students who could be ultimately prepared to take part in International Olympiads. It will serve as jumpstart while we continue to implement and carry on this event countrywide annually in the future.
