¨ OFFICE BEARERS OF ISLAMABAD HIGH COURT BAR ASSOCIATION VISITED NH&MP HQRS AND BRIEFED ON MOTORWAY POLICE WORKING SYSTEM.
A delegation of lawyers and office bearers of Islamabad High Court Bar Council visited the NH&MP Hqrs. and were given a comprehensive briefing on the working system of Motorway Police. In his welcome address Mr. Zafarullah Khan, Inspector General, National Highways & Motorway Police briefed on the Working Strategy, Training Ecology and Cultural Reforms introduced in the National Highways & Motorway Police. In a detailed briefing SSP Nasir Mehmood Satti said that Good training and good working environment played a vital role in the cultural transformation of new policing system adopted by the Motorway Police which is a shining example of this friendly police culture. He told that NH&MP was established in 1997 with a control of 336 KM of M-2 but now it overs the control of G.T Road, Coastal Highway, RCD highway, Islamabad Muzaffarabad Expressway etc. which covers more than 2500 KM roads. During his briefing, he said that Motorway Police basically focus on provision of help to the road users in distress rather to challaning. The officers of this force always give priority to the issues of road safety in their working so that safest traveling could be ensured for the road users. He said NH&MP have established a Road Safety Wing which analysis every minor accident with critical and scientific methods and suggests the measures to removed some bottlenecks. He said that NH&MP have succeeded to down the accident rate for more than 70% and further improvement is going on through scientific studies. He further added that crime rate on highways has also dropped by more than 85%. He also said that achievement of anything is easy but to sustain the standards is very difficult but the NH&MP is doing so far in its 14 years of success. The IG, Zafarullah Khan also said that officers of Motorway Police are sent on foreign training and we are providing them with best possible working environment. He said that in Motorway Police, officers of the rank of Sub-Inspector and above are deputed for Patrolling therefore, it is an officer based organization. He said that NH&MP apart from its duties have re-united more than 500 children in the last 03 years and more than 700 stolen/snatched vehicles have returned to its owners. He also said that the motto of Motorway Police is to Help the People in distress, their counseling and guidance, while Challan is our last priority. On this occasion, the envoy of lawyers was also introduced about Mobile Education Unit, Speed Measuring Camera, Ambulance Service and Rescue and Recovery system of Motorway Police. The envoy was headed by Chaudhary Muhammad Ashraf Gujjar, President Islamabad High Court Bar Association. The meeting was attended by DIG, Dr. Muhammad Shafiq, SSP Muhammad Ali Babakhel, Mr. Jehanzez Jogazai, Commandant, NH&MP College, Raja Shafiq Abbasi, General Secretary Islamabad Highcourt Bar Association and others. Ch. Muhammad Ashraf, President Islamabad High court Bar Association lauded the performance and working system of National Highways & Motorway Police. He also congratulated on excellent performance and said that it is the only Made in Pakistan Police which has not only shaken the colonial policing system but also given the excellent results in winning the hearts of the people. Later on, the IG, NH&MP Zafarullah Khan presented a shield to the President, Islamabad High Court Bar Council and souvenirs of the members of the High Court Bar Council.
