Press Release-Pakistan Journal of Criminology Published
Pakistan Society of Criminology has published the Special of Pakistan Journal of Criminology (Vol.2, No. 2& 3, April-July, 2011). The special issue is edited by Prof. James F. Albrecht (USA), a retired NYPD Police officer and a Graduate Professor of Homeland Security at Pace University, New York, USA. The issue is focused on 'Enhancing Effectiveness and Leadership within Law-enforcement and Criminal Justice'. There are ten different research articles in the current issue on police and policing, terrorism and peace-making, restorative justice, ethnicity and police deviance, written by scholars and practitioners from USA, Turkey, South Africa, Pakistan, Canada, UK, Norway and Iran. The Editor-in-Chief Fasihuddin (PSP) has underlined in his note the causes of failure of Pakistani law-enforcement agencies to effectively counter the threats of terror, and in his article on Identification of Potential Terrorism, he has criticized the police leadership and policy-makers in failing to establish a homeland security mechanism and intelligence-led policing model for countering terrorism operationally and reducing the genesis of radicalism strategically. The Guest-Editor Prof. James F. Albrecht has critically evaluated all the articles and has praised the role of the Pakistan Journal of Criminology for producing such authentic criminological literature which addresses the issues of enhancing effective policing, police professionalism, interaction between academics and practitioners and a joint working of all the wings of criminal justice system. The next issue of the journal will be focused on 'Drugs and Anti-Narcotic Policies' which will be edited by another great US scholar Prof. Gary Cordner. There will be another special issue on Human Rights, Death Penalty and Minorities which will be guest-edited by a Canadian scholar Prof. John Winterdyk.
