IOM and PDMA Establish Roster of Master Trainers on

KARACHI/ISLAMABAD: IOM and the Sindh Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) have jointly hosted a 6-day training of trainers (ToT) on
The ToT establishes a roster of experts who will train others throughout the province and serve as resource persons in preparing for and responding to displacement to camp-like settings in the event of any future natural disaster.
Participants took part in a rigorous capacity building programme, learning to train on 10 key components of CCCM – Introduction to Camp Management, Roles and Responsibilities, International Law and Human Rights Framework, Protection, International Standards, Camp Set Up, Camp Care and Maintenance, Camp Closure, Coordination and Information Management, and Participation.
In delivering these modules at the field level, roster members will promote a more systematic, structured approach to protection and assistance of internally displaced persons, in line with international standards and best practices.
“We are proud to partner with PDMA in creating a pool of expert trainers whose services will not only be available for deployment during any future emergencies, but who will be of great service in training other government and civil society officials, which is a need of the hour keeping in view natural disasters the country has faced during the last several years,” said IOM Pakistan Chief of Mission Enrico Ponziani.
Attending the closing ceremony today (23/3) as Guests of Honour was the Sindh Minister of Rehabilitation and Disaster Management, Haji Muzaffar Ali Shujra.
Other key participants included Provincial Secretary of Rehabilitation and Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department Sohail Akber Shah, Director General of the Provincial Disaster Management Commitment Danish Saeed, and IOM Chief of Mission Enrico Ponziani.
The minister awarded certificates to the trainees and delivered the closing remarks, congratulating participants, recognizing the joint accomplishment of IOM and the Government of Pakistan, and encouraging further expansion of the project throughout the province.
