Details: The Consultation, follows provincial consultations in Lahore and Karachi and will engage Pakistani stakeholders (Government, private sector, NGOs/think- tanks & civil society) in assessing the progress towards sustainable development in Pakistan. It will identify gaps and emerging challenges and give recommendations on how the UNCSD/Rio +20 Conference could promote renewed political commitment for better results.
The consultation will address two major themes: 1) green economy in the context of sustainable development and 2) poverty eradication and institutional framework for sustainable development at local national and international levels.
Outcome: A national report which will serve as the basis for the Government of Pakistan’s inputs to the UNCSD Secretariat in advance of the negotiations on the outcome of the conference due to commence in January 2012.
