¨ SHORTAGE OF MANPOWER IN NH&MP WOULD BE COMPLTED ON PRIORITY BASIS.
¨ MINISTRY OF COMMUNICATIONS WILL FULLY SUPPORT IN PROVIDING LATEST TECHNICAL FACILITIES TO MOTORWAY POLICE.

The Federal Minister for Communications Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan has said that shortage of manpower in National Highways & Motorway Police would be completed on priority basis so that it could meet the future challenges. He said that Ministry of Communication will fully support and cooperate with NH&MP to provide all type of facilities because it is only department which can be compared at international for a by way of professionalism and performance. He delivered these words while chairing a high level meeting in the Headquarters of NH&MP at Islamabad which was also attended by the JS Communications Mathar Niaz Rana, IG NH&MP Wajid Ali Khan Durrani, DIG HQ Shahid Yar Khan and AIG(Establishment) Ashfaq Ahmed Khan. During briefing, the Minister for Communications was apprised that there is shortage of 1053 posts of different ranks in NH&MP which are essential to meet the challenges faced by this office. Wajid Ali Khan Durrani informed that with the passage of time different sections were made being a new department and all the duties are performed by the existing staff due to which officers could not avail even their monthly rests in time. The Minister was also apprised that the summary Hassan Abdal – Mansehra Expressway and Karachi – Quetta road for sanction of manpower and funds have been sent to the ministry but the approval has not been received as yet. The Minister for Communications Dr. Arbab Alamgir Khan assured the IG NH&MP to resolve these issues as early as possible. He said that due to Motorway Police the communications tools become more faster and it is playing very important role in strengthening the economic activities in the country. The Minister added that 95% Goods Traffic is being controlled by NH&MP but to meet the future challenges, the NH&MP must equip itself on purely scientific lines, as international traffic would also be allowed to run through Pakistan in near future. At that time, to provide the complete flow in traffic and accident free environment would be a challenge for NH&MP. The Minister also said that NH&MP should also send a summary for sanction of manpower and funds for Lower Topa – Muzzafarabad as Murree Expressway is going to be enhanced upto Muzzaffarabad. He said that now it has been made compulsory for every new project of NHA to include the all requirements of NH&MP. The directed that ministry to make efforts to fill the shortage of manpower in NH&MP.
