[Pak-Media] PR: KCEU Holds Kunan Poshpora Exhibition Outside the UN

Pursuant to the declaration made on the 23rd of February 2011 the ICHR Kashmir Centre.EU has dedicated the Kashmir UN Week outside the headquarters of the United Nations Human Rights Council to the victims of the Kunan Poshpora & Shopian. The Kashmir UN Week commenced today and the exhibition is already attracting large crowds. The Kunan Poshpora & Shopian tragedies exhibition is to coincide with UN Womens Week .

Speaking on the occasion Barrister A. Majid Tramboo, Chairman of ICHR Kashmir Centre.EU, stated that it appalling that 20 years have elapsed since the Rajputana Rifles soldiers have raped and gang raped the honourable women at Kunan Poshpora. nobody has yet been brought to justice and no compensation has been afforded to the victims. The Shopian rape and murder of two young women is an example as to how the Indian military and para-military forces are operating in Indian Held Kashmir.

Barrister Tramboo declared that it is about time that such gross violations of human rights be brought into the limelight on the international level and this is precisely what KCEU has embarked upon.

The Kashmir UN Week is supported and assisted by the advisory council to KCEU. The team includes Raja Zaheer Ahmed (coordinator ACKC), Syed Parvaiz, Zaman Afzal and Waqar ul-islam Malik.
