LAUNCH OF THE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL SURVEY OF ASIA AND THE PACIFIC 2011
Sustaining recovery and dynamism for inclusive development: Connectivity in the Region and Productive capacity in Least Developed Countries
The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) will be launching its annual flagship Economic and Social Survey of Asia and the Pacific ESCAP- 2011 on 5 May 2011. The Theme of this year's report is Sustaining recovery and dynamism for inclusive development: Connectivity in the Region and Productive capacity in Least Developed Countries
The Asia-Pacific developing economies have recovered well in 2010 from the global financial crisis of 2008/09. The dramatic V-shaped recovery witnessed in 2010 by the economies in the region was supported by massive fiscal stimulus packages along with renewed strength in exports. It helped the Asia-Pacific region emerge as a growth pole and a critical anchor for global recovery. As the recovery consolidates in 2011, the economies face fresh challenges, notably the rising inflationary pressures especially with the return of food and fuel crises.
ESCAP -2011 shall be launched at the 28 locations around the world simultaneously. In Pakistan, Dr. Ashfaque H. Khan, Director General & Dean NUST Business School and Dr. Rashid Amjad, Vice Chancellor, Pakistan Institute of Development Economics (PIDE) shall present the Survey.
You are cordially at the launch of ESCAP -2011 Venue: Serena Hotel, Shamadan Hall Date and Time: Thursday, 5 May 2011, at 10:45am (Kindly reach the venue at 10:30 for set up and security clearances)
