Tribal war is feared in Afghanistan and Pakistan after US withdrawal
Call a friend in Peshawar and it is highly probable that you would not hear the usual ring tone. Instead, there will be a unique tune: a Hamd - a traditional Islamic hymn that praises Allah. The most popular Hamd in Peshawar nowadays is roughly translated as: "From whom would I ask if not from You (Allah)? Before whom would I cry if not before You (Allah)

A New Great Game
The normal assumption one can make is that the eventual withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan will signal the beginning of the end of their "war against terrorism". It is predicted that by 2014, the Afghan security forces would be sufficiently trained and equipped, and in a position to take responsibility for the internal and external security of their country; and the stated US goals of defeating al-Qaeda and the Taliban would have, for the most part, been achieved. However, those who are even slightly aware of the dynamics of global geo-politics understand that the withdrawal shall actually signify the beginning of a new game in the region: The New Great Game.

Pakistan cannot be a viable state until…. : Dr Stephen Cohen
Pakistan cannot be a viable state until it is linked in some way to a major economy or two, if it can't do this with India, via pipelines and trade routes, it will wither." I don't know whether china is willing or able to bring about the economic reformation of Pakistan, they are trying to do this with North Korea, but Pakistan's vital interests economically are in South Asia, it cannot prosper in today's world by renting its territory out to others.

Gwadar and New Great Game
Blue Green beaches, Golden sand, and incredible natural flora and fauna symbolises Gwadar, a pristine coastal city located hundreds of miles away from the troubled lands which constitute the epicenter of the war on terror. However, it is slowly drifting into another game due to its geo strategic location of being at the apex of the Arabian sea and mouth of the Gulf of Oman as well as its proximity of just 180 nautical miles from the Straits of Hormuz, a critical international oil trade route. And the chock point is its 47 feet deep sea warm water port. An inactive port and growing militancy in the surrounding are the indication that a storm in the making.

Karachi - My City of Ruins
"Only the dead have seen the end of war," wrote Plato in his Dialogues. The Greek thinker knew it more than two millennia back but the locals of Pakistan's sole port city seem to know it not. Karachi continues to bleed on ethnic, political, sectarian and, most of all, mafia divides.
