Press Conference: "PAKISTAN FLOODS ONE YEAR ON"

The United Nations in Pakistan will hold a press conference to mark the one year on the devastating floods of 2010 and to launch the United Nations one year on floods publication. The event will be hosted by United Nations Special Envoy, Ambassador Rauf Engin Soysal, Acting Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator, Mr. Mengesha Kebede joined by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Chairman, Mr. Zafar Iqbal Qadir and the Pakistan Humanitarian Forum (PHF) Chairperson, Mr. Jack Byrne.
The United Nations along with the NDMA and the PHF will mark one year since strong monsoons resulted in devastating floods by commemorating the remarkable resilience and strength of the people of Pakistan with an update of the floods response by the Government and the humanitarian community. The United Nations will launch the floods one year on publication, which provides an overview of the floods response including the achievements, challenges and lessons learned, emphasizing the crucial recovery work that continues today.
NB: Media are requested to arrive early in order to set up. Once the press conference has started, it will be difficult to enter the hall. Interviews with United Nations agencies spokespersons will be available immediately following the press conference.
