The ER Programme is being executed through an extensive network around 38 implementing partners which include NGOs as well as government departments and agencies.
UNDP is also the Co-Chair of the Early Recovery Working Group along with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). In this capacity UNDP is supporting the effective coordination of the ER Activities at Federal, Provincial and District levels involving relevant Government institutions, UN agencies and other humanitarian and development organizations.
UNDP’s Early Recovery Programme is one of the largest ER initiatives launched anywhere in the world. UNDP Administrator Helen Clark had also visited Pakistan in February 2011 to view the ER activities. She stated “It is a privilege to be able to support people to rebuild their homes and livelihoods after those devastating floods. Much remains to be done. It is important to continue to support Pakistan’s recovery.”
UNDP Pakistan has engaged leading pop singer Hadiqa Kiani and international tennis star Aisam ul Haq as National Goodwill Ambassadors for Early Recovery who advocate for continued support for early recovery through their media engagements within and outside Pakistan.
