Dear friends and scholars,
Please find two important coloumns of veteran and renowned coloumnist and analyst, Mr. Jamil Marghuz Advocate, which he wrote about "Criminology" and the "Pakistan Society of Criminology" in the most popular paper Daily Aaj, Peshawar on Sep 19, 2011 and Sep 22, 2011. Mr. Jamil Murghuz, in his first article, describes the various kinds of criminological theories and the way of our police work to prevent and investigate the crime and prosecute the criminals. He in a light mood, has compared the working of the traditional Pakistani police with the modern and evidence-based policing in the western world. In his second coloumn on "Pakistan Society of Criminology", the writer has critically evaluated the efforts and contributions of the Society towards promoting criminology, the scientific study of crimes and the police and security studies. The writer has lauded the role of the society but has also expressed his concern on the indifference and non-chalance of our scholars and policy-makers, and the poor investment by the well-to-do sector in research and publications. Mr. Jamil has enumerated a cascade of questions about the genesis of terrorism and radicalism and the dire need for a research-based policy in countering violence and radical attitudes the way envisioned by the Pakistan Society of Criminology. Mr. Jamil intends to write a detailed and critical essay on the style and contents of the Pakistan Journal of Criminology in future. The team of the Pakistan Society of Criminology and the Editor-in-Chief of the Pakistan Journal of Criminology are thankful to Mr. Jamil for his value-free and critical analysis of the current crime situation in Pakistan, and the role of the society and the academic status of its journal and website. You may find it on the following links:
with best regards.
