Traveling Nature Carnival 2012
Islamabad, February 25th, 2012: The World Wide Fund for Nature - Pakistan (WWF - Pakistan) in collaboration with Indus Motor Company (IMC) will be hosting the 12th Annual Traveling Nature Carnival on Sunday, February 26th, 2012 at Fatima Jinnah Park (insde Bolan Gate) from 9:00am to 4:00 pm.
The Nature Carnival is an event aimed at enhancing awareness about nature conservation among students and the general public through interactive games and competitions. WWF – Pakistan and IMC will host an array of activities including an Art Competition, Quiz Competition, Essay Competition, Interactive 3D Model making competition, Magic Shows, Environmental Puppet Shows, a Lucky Draw, live music and an environmental theatre. The carnival will also have interactive games, activities and food stalls.
WWF - Pakistan has been working on environmental education for the past two decades; the traveling nature carnival is an integral part of its school outreach. This year, to increase the scale of the Nature Carnival, WWF - Pakistan collaborated with IMC to promote its School Environment Programme.
Over 80 schools and 20 colleges and universities across Rawalpindi, Islamabad Nowshera, Kharian, Jhelum and Peshawar are participating by constructing 3-D models and giving live presentations at the venue. More than 100 project stalls will be installed on various themes such as; Habitat conservation of endangered species (Snow Leopards, Green Turtle, Dolphin), Water Conservation, Solid Waste Management: Recycle, Reuse & Reduce, Energy Conservation - Alternate Energy, Tourism Vs Eco-Tourism: Explore Wetlands of Pakistan for eco-tourism, Documentaries on Industrial pollution/Solid Waste Management and Sustainable Eco-Architecture/ Agriculture/ Climate Change, Mitigation and Adaptation/ Alternate Energy.
The Travelling Nature Carnival is a culmination of these joint environmental endeavours. The funds-raised from the carnival will go towards WWF - Pakistan's conservation projects.
