Positive role of journalist bodies for welfare of media community is known to everyone, but now a days, a different trend is being witnessed when some members of esteemed journalist bodies like Rawalpindi and Islamabad Union of Journalists (RIUJ) and Pakistan Federation of Union of
journalists (PFUJ) are unnecessarily interfering in affairs of APP, probably to achieve some personal goals.
The employees of APP have always accorded due respect to the office bearers of above mentioned bodies whosoever, who, no doubt have always raised voice for rights of community. But these days, APP Employees have found unnecessary involvement of some members of both the bodies into affairs of APP whichis not fair and right.
APP is a premier news agency and its new management with the support of APP employees is
endeavoring to address all issues on priority. Now doubt, APP is facing some financial problems, but employees have full confidence on new management, headed by Managing Director, Rao Tahseen Iqbal, to arrange funding for the organization. Employees are receiving salary in time and even the management has also started paying pending bills of employees whenever it gets financial
space.
MD and its team are running from pillar to post to get the financial issues resolved at the earliest. These days, the RIUJ and PFUJ seem to have no business, except to discuss APP in their meetings. There are some other organizations where our journalists brothers and sisters are facing lay offs and even in some cases they are not being paid salaries for months.
Pls discuss their matters and try to get them addressed. They really need your help and you
people, being office bearers, must ensure provision of their rights.
If RIUJ and PFUJ really want to help APP, they should influence Ministry of Finance for
early release of funds. This would be real help to APP employees rather inviting annoyance through interference.
Pls stop interfering into affairs of APP.
