Change in the global status quo regardingthe use, production and health consequences in illicit drugs: Launch of World Drug Report 2012
At National Library Auditorium, 25thJune 2012 at 11:00 hours
United Nation's Office on Drugs and Crime's is launching the World Drug Report 2011 at 11:00 on 25 June 2012 at theNational Library Auditorium, Islamabad. This event will include a presentationfocusing on drug challenges in Pakistan. Mr. Javed Iqbal, Secretary Ministryof Narcotics Control and Major General Malik Zafar Iqbal, Director GeneralAnti Narcotics Force will be participating.
The World Drug Report provides an overviewof recent trends and the drug situation in terms of production, trafficking,consumption and the consequences of illicit drug use in terms of treatment,drug-related diseases and drug-related deaths.
It also presents a long-term perspectiveon the characteristics and evolution of the drug problem and the main factorsthat shaped it. It discusses the main characteristics of the contemporarydrug problem, followed by an overview of the shifts observed over lastfew decades, before concluding with an analysis of the driving factorsthat shaped the evolution of the drug problem, including a brief outlookfor its likely future direction.
