US aggression to devastate her troubled economy
Adventure may harm US economy beyond repair
Wild military spending not helping US national security, image
Islamabad: [Sept 27]
The Pakistan Economy Watch (PEW) on Tuesday said attack on Pakistan would be a ruinous mistake by a country that is suffering from economic downturn.
US should consider controlling record debts and deficits which is only possible through cut in defence spending. Another adventure will require additional billions of dollars that American taxpayers cannot afford, it said.
American political and military leadership should realise that the current level of military spending not only strains their resources but has also tainted their image. It has done little to improve their national security.
Talking to officials and members of Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society (PESS), Dr. Murtaza Mughal, President of the Pakistan Economy Watch said that Americans are known for blaming others for their humiliating failures.
Those US circles that are advocating attack on Pakistan are playing with fire which will first burn their own country, Dr. Murtaza Mughal said.
Such controversial policies have already ruined American economy and attack on Pakistan may harm US economy beyond repaid, he warned.
He said that our government could consider abandoning cooperation in war on terror and offer general amnesty to all insurgents to ensure peace.
At the occasion, former military officers including President PESS Lt. Gen (retd) Faiz Ali Chishti, Sq. Ldr. (retd) Liaquat Ansari, Col. (retd) Inam Rahim, Col. (retd) Khalid Mehmood, Col. (retd) Sajjad and others said that Pakistan is not as weak as Iraq or Afghanistan.
They said that US attack will harm Pakistan but it will destroy the sole super power.
They were of the opinion that US cannot be trusted anymore and that cooperation in war on terror has remained counterproductive.
